School Cross Country

On Tuesday we had our school cross country. It was great to see everyone giving it a go.
Congratulations to Maria, Orla, Isabella, Patrik and Marten who made it through to the inter-school competition next week.

Term 2 Principal's Award

Congratulations to Maria Stoové for receiving the Principal's Award this term. Maria always follows the Golden Rules and is a great role model to others. 

Māui fishing up Te Ika-a-Māui

With Matua Jay we have been learning the story of Māui fishing up Te Ika-a-Māui, the North Island.  We then created the North and South Island, drawing them as a fish and a canoe. Next we located cities on the map and learnt how to communicate location in Te Reo Maori.

Electrical circuits

Today in Energy Options we were looking at how to keep safe around electricity. We then created our own electrical circuits using the brain-box resource.

Kick It

This term we are participating in 4 kick it sessions. 

Kicking is an integral part of many sports. Therefore, we are participating in a variety of core activities based around kicking. This will develop hand-eye coordination between the feet and the brain.

We have been learning to:

• Kick a soccer ball with the right part of our foot.
• Dribble the ball between obstacles.
• Be a team player.

Energy Options

For the next 6 weeks we are lucky to Mrs Maple in our classroom teaching us about energy.

We are learning about how energy can make something happen.
- It moves things
- It heats things up
- It makes things change

Over the next six weeks we will be exploring the different forms of energy.
- Heat energy
- Light energy
- Sound energy
- Electrical energy
- Mechanical energy
- Chemical energy

We have also started to look at the states of energy. For example, potential energy is stored energy and kinetic energy is energy used for moving.
